Once you find yourself in need of flooding restoration - there has likely been a lot of damage. Water has a way of getting anywhere there is a path which leads to a lot of damage. The hardest part for a homework considering doing this is how extensive the damage is - when sheet rock is wet, it is ruined, it turns into a sponge and usually the trim and flooring has damage and matching existing flooring and trimming can be difficult.

A common issue that leads to a flood is a running toilet. If your toilet is constantly running, get that repaired immediately because it is only a matter of time before you have a flood in internal areas you can’t see.
If you are doing this yourself it is critical that heat is gradual when drying out a flooded space. Heating too fast leads to black mold and can also damage things you don’t typically think about like counter top glue warming leading to it detaching.
